Spring is here and the sun is shining through the workshop on our third (left) and fourth (right) Class 18 Clayton Equipment +CBD90 shunting locomotives in production for Beacon Rail with the end users still to be announced. These 90 tonne Class 18 Bo-Bo locomotives are designed to haul more than 2,000 tonnes, are self contained, with on-board batteries that can be charged through a three-phase electric supply or on-board diesel engine which meets EU emission standards. The customer benefits from reduced maintenance costs and the 'green benefits' of reduced emissions from the cleanest diesel engine, a reduced carbon footprint, reduced noise levels, greater haulage capacity and increased reliability meet their commitment to invest in environmentally compliant equipment.
